Two nights after Colorado had won their fourth NCAA men's title for cross country, Colorado Coach Mark Wetmore had a chance to get back with me to answers about his sixth team title as Colorado coach and first since 2007.

Adam Schneider (AS) - Tell me about pre-race and what you said before the race
Mark Wetmore (MW) - It was different for each runner, but, basically. "Trust your self."

AS - Tell us your thoughts mid-race (Colorado was in eighth)
MW - "This is going to get interesting"

AS - Did you know you had won? (As a side note, Northern Arizona looked like they assumed they had won)
MW - Definitely not.

AS - How does this feel for you and the team?
MW - I am pleased. I think they are too.

AS - How surprising is this?  You mentioned this is your youngest team.
MW - I dont mean to sound arrogant, but it isn't very surprising. But, had we been third, I wouldn't have been surprised either.

AS - Were you concerned your team could win after Mountain region?
MW - The Mountain Region did not change my expectations or aspirations at all. I knew that all the better teams there were just treating it as a qualifying round.
