Box Draws Announced for NCAA Cross Country Championships Each race features 41 box assignments selected by a random computerized draw. November 14, 2012 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS CENTRAL
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Louisville less than a week away, the box draws for the men’s and women’s races on Saturday were announced by the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee. Starting boxes for teams and individuals the NCAA Cross Country Championships are selected by a random computerized draw. Thirty-one teams were selected to participate in each championship at E.P. ‘Tom’ Sawyer State Park. The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the nine regions for a total of 18 teams. An additional 13 teams were selected at-large. Thirty-eight individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. All individual qualifiers finished in the top 25 in their region. Saturday begins with the 33rd annual women’s championship at noon ET, followed by the 75th annual men’s race with the 10K event at 1:15 p.m. This is the first time in NCAA history that the Division I cross country championships will take place in the state of Kentucky.
