DI Regional Cross Country Rankings: 2012 Week 6 (Pre-Regional)Courtesy: Tom Lewis, USTFCCCA October 29, 2012 NEW ORLEANS – The final regular-season regional rankings for NCAA Division I cross country have been released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The rankings come just hours after the final conference championships of the season and are the last evaluations of the NCAA landscape before regional championships that will be held Friday, November 2. Wisconsin’s men once again gained top-billing as the team to beat in the Great Lakes region in the latest rankings. On the women’s side, Oregon is the new No. 1 team in the West. Top women’s teams by region: Michigan (Great Lakes), Georgetown (Mid-Atlantic), Iowa State (Midwest), Weber State (Mountain), Cornell (Northeast), Florida State (South), Arkansas (South Central), Duke (Southeast), Oregon (West). New to the regional rankings for the first time this year: MEN – South Dakota (Midwest), Florida Gulf Coast (South); WOMEN — Pittsburgh (Mid-Atlantic). USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team strength with current-season results in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA Regional Championships.
