Women Shoot For Third NCAA Title, Men Also Aiming High

BOULDER — The University of Colorado top-ranked women's cross country team is looking to prove they are the best team in the NCAA this season as the Buffs are set to compete at the 2016 NCAA Championships on Saturday, November 19, in Terre Haute, Ind.
 
The women enter the meet as the unanimous No. 1 team in the country and have been the top-rated team for the last three polls. The men's team is also looking to do well at the meet and is ranked second overall. This will be the 25th straight NCAA appearance for men, which is the longest active streak on the men's side. For the women, it's the 24th appearance in the last 25 years. 
 
The women's 6-kilometer race is slated first and is scheduled for a 9 a.m. MT/11 a.m. ET start. The men will run the 10k course second at 10 a.m. MT/12 p.m. ET at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at Wabash Valley Family Sports Center. An awards ceremony will follow both races.
 
Both teams advanced to NCAAs after finishing in the top two at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships. The women defeated New Mexico 35-109, while the men were second to top-rated Northern Arizona (60-76). 
 
Of the 31 women's teams participating at nationals, the CU women will face five other Pac-12 schools in No. 4 Stanford, No. 7 Washington, No. 12 Oregon, No. 27 Utah and No. 30 California. The men will also have five league schools in their race: No. 3 Stanford, No. 10 UCLA, No. 13 Oregon, No. 18 Washington State and No. 26 California.
