NEW ORLEANS – For the 12th consecutive week, Colorado sits atop the men’s NCAA Division I Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll as announced Tuesday afternoon by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The two-time defending national champion Buffaloes have yet to race a full squad this season, but have been the unanimous No. 1 selection in each of the three polls this year.

There weren’t any changes to the top-5 as Colorado is followed by No.2 Stanford, No. 3 Syracuse, No. 4Wisconsin and No. 5 Oklahoma State. Three of the top-5 are in action this weekend as No. 2 Stanford hosts the Stanford XC Invitational, No. 3 Syracuse travels to the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown and No. 5 Oklahoma State puts on its Cowboy Jamboree.

Oregon (No. 6) and Villanova(No. 7) swapped spots for the second consecutive week, whileIona and Virginia held steady at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively. Following a third-place showing at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships in which they were beat by IUPUI and Indiana State, the Indiana Hoosiers tumbled out of the top-10 to No. 17.

Michigan jumped into the top-10 following a strong effort at the Spartan Invitational. This is the Wolverines’ first trip to the top-10 since 2008.

Indiana, as mentioned before, isn’t the only team to slide in this week’s poll. North Carolina fell from No. 19 to No. 23 and Washington went from No. 21 to No. 28. The Tar Heels were beat the adidas XC Challenge by rival North Carolina State (No. 30 this week), while the Huskies’ home meet was won by Washington State.

Northern Arizona moved up in the poll, but the vote occurred before it was announced that 2014 NCAA third-place finisher Futsum Zienasellassie and teammate Nathan Weitz would redshirt.

There could very well be some changes in the poll come next week as there are several big meets with national implications. Four ranked teams and three others who received votes will compete at the Roy Griak Invitational and three top-25 teams are in the field at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational.

The biggest meet of the season is in November, when the heavyweights will duke it out for the national championship at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
