Division II Program, Rocky Mountain Conference, Newly Restated Program (2007), CSU-Pueblo is Located in Southern Colorado, Pueblo, The population was 106,595 in 2010 census, The area is considered to be semi-arid desert land, with approximately 12 inches of precipitation annually; however with its location in the "banana belt", Pueblo tends to get less snow than the other major cities in Colorado. Pueblo is home to Colorado State University-Pueblo (CSU-Pueblo), currently the fastest growing university in the state and a regional comprehensive university. It is part of the Colorado State University System (CSU System), with about 6,000 students. On May 8, 2007, CSU-Pueblo got approval from the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System to bring back football, wrestling, and track & field as a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The first game was played in the fall of 2008 at the Thunderbowl, a new stadium at CSU-Pueblo which holds over 12,000 people. In the past three years we hosted several meets. The Banana Belt Classic (High School), USATF Region X meet (Juniors), USATF Colorado State meet (Juniors), CSU-Pueblo Open, CSU Pueblo Combined Events & Invitational, 2010 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships. In 2012 and 2013 we will host the Division II National Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
