NCAA D1 M 10K  - Full Video Replay It was a different strategy this year.  No one took the pace, at 5k they ran 15:30 which was to Oregon 's benefit and they led with 100 to Colorado with 105, Stanford 112, Ok State 144, Syracuse 170, Iona in 7th with 279, Portland 8th with 288 and No Arizona 9th with 304 .  Then they accelerated and thinned the group.  Cheserek took off just after 8k and Kebenei tried to follow.  Ches ran away with the title in 30:19 (14:39 second half), covering the last 2K in 5:40 (28:20 pace).   EricJenkins and Futsum Zienasallasie separated themselves and down the home straight Jenkins had the lead, Futsum passed him with 100 to go and then Jenkins (30:23.2) with good mile speed, passed futsum (30:25.3) to make an Oregon 1-2. Korolev of Stanford fourth in 30:29.5,  Moussa (30:29.6) led Colorado with a 5-7-9-24-35 finish to win with 65, Stanford second with 98, 4-20-29-33-39, as saving McGorty (20th) paid off for the Cardinal.  Portland had a rough finish and still placed third for their first program podium finish led by Scott Fauble  12-28-44-59-70, 175.   Northern Arizona moved up at the end for fourth 3-31-36-55-108, 188 as Weitz was #6, and McElroy had a bad race.  Syracuse finished fifth with 206, the group running did not work as #5 fell back from group at 37-38-42-45-95.  A pack finish would have gotten them third.  Kebenei was sixth in 30:30.1, Saarel of colorado 7th in 30:30.7, John Mascari of Indiana State was 8th in 30:31.3, Blake Theroux 9th in 30:31.7, and Malachy Schrobilgen was 10th in 30:32.6

Two teams I had #1 all season finished 1-2, #7 Portland has been top 10 all season, and #2 Northern finishes fourth , #3 Syracuse did not keep all five together or they would have finished third

MSU 4-11-17-21-61 O'Connor fell back to 17th and Kroll had a rough race in 61st but depth carried them.
